I am in waiting for them to contact me for the renewal, but what I still don’t understand is which email address they send an invitation to an appointment? I do not remember submitting any information to IRN itself, where do they get this information from? Can you clarify that part so that I know which email address they may send the email to…(I have several as many people might do).
They will use your email adress registred in the tax authorities. That’s how governmental institutions contact the citizens.

You just have to wait.
I don’t know what contact info the government has for me as there are so many different entities. If the Financas portal has the right information, should that be enough? If not, where do I change it with the other entities? Thanks for this article

Yes, the Finanças portal contact is the one the government uses to reach you. If you have a social security number you should have a default email (to recover the password) that you may update too.

can people still travel in Shengen area with non EU passport if they are waiting for the IRN appointment to renew their residence cards, and they are expired? Maybe there is a document that can be shown at the passport control or something?
In theory you can because there is no border control. In practice you shouldn’t because the other countries can’t consider legislation refering to Portugal.
My residence card was stolen in Italy. I attempted to request a replacement card by submitting the requested documents, including the police report. However, since my card expired in April, it will not accept my request, and tells me to apply for a renewal. Is there anything I can do other than await the email from IRN? Thanks.

The renewal process will be updated this week. It may sort out your situation. Wait a few more days, otherwise you can only move if AIMA unblocks it and you can only do it if you complain with them.
