AIMA NEW PLATFORM

AIMA Launches Online Requests for Data Changes and Duplicate Residence Permits

The Agência para a Imigração e Mobilidade (AIMA) in Portugal has launched a new online functionality specifically for foreign citizens who already hold a residence card or permit.
This feature is available through the official AIMA contact form:
contactenos.aima.gov.pt.

What Can You Request with This New Feature?

When selecting the topic “Autorização de Residência” (Residence Permit) on the form, foreign citizens can now make two types of requests:

  1. Change of Personal Data
If your personal data has changed (such as address, name, or other key information), you can request an update to your details used for the issuance of your residence permit.
  2. Request a Second Copy of Your Residence Card/Permit
If your card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can apply for a duplicate.

Required Documents for Each Request

In both cases, you must upload:

  • A copy of your valid passport
  • A copy of your current residence card or title

Depending on your request, you’ll also need to provide:

  • For Data Changes: Proof of the reason for the change (e.g., utility bill, marriage certificate)
  • For a Second Copy: A copy of the police report confirming you reported the loss or theft

Important: These requests must be submitted no earlier than 90 days before the expiry date of your current residence card or permit.
